Surface piercings are not done directly on the ear, but right next to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most common form is the one done next to the tragus, clearly seen in the illustration. With a little imagination you can find some interesting alternatives, e.g. behind the ear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is surface piercing exactly?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A surface piercing is any body piercing which is performed on a surface of the body\/skin which is neither convex nor concave (i.e. flat skin surfaces which neither protrude nor are indented). This means that the entry and exit points are on the same plane, which gives that characteristic impression that the balls have been casually placed on the surface of the skin. However, given that surface piercings are subjected to tension, they will also tend to be rejected and grow out. This risk can be minimized by using the appropriate form of jewelry and the correct placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We use the 90\u00b0 titanium surface bars for this purpose. Keep in mind that the healing process is longer with this kind of piercing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Healing and Care: <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A surface piercing can take between 3 and 8 months to heal completely, rarely longer. Like other external piercings, in the first three weeks it should be cleaned with ProntoLind spray twice a day, and then coated with ProntoLind gel. It is important to wash your hands before touching the pierced area and the jewelry itself. By caring for the piercing in the correct manner and with the proper materials, you can do a great deal to prevent the onset of proud flesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
