Frenulum/Frunum-Piercing

Frenum_Piercing1

The frenulum piercing is simply a piercing through the male frenulum. The frenulum is the small, slender piece of skin under the tip of the glans.

The frenulum is comparable to a woman’s clitoris and is therefore the most sensitive area of stimulation for a man. This is also way it has become very popular among men.

Uncircumcised men in particular are very fond of the frenulum piercing, since they are more sensitive in this area, and are often amazed at what a little fold of skin is capable of.

Circumcised men can also benefit a great deal, but the before/after contrast is not as pronounced as with uncircumcised men, since the circumcised man is already quite sensitive in that area.

Origins:

The first reports of the frenulum piercing date back to the 19th century. Today it is a very popular form of genital piercing for men, though its history is perhaps not as striking as the Prince Albert piercing.

Placement:

It is performed slightly lower on the frenulum, in order to prevent it from being torn. The perforation of this particular tissue is very straightforward and heals relatively quickly, within 4-8 weeks. In uncircumcised men this procedure is only possible if there is still enough of that tissue available.

Healing:

Because the tissue in that area is very slender, it heals rapidly within 4-8 weeks.

Genital piercings can take between 2 weeks and 6 months to heal completely, rarely longer. Like other external piercings, in the first three weeks it should be cleaned with ProntoLind spray twice a day, and then coated with ProntoLind gel. It is important to wash your hands before touching the pierced area and the jewelry itself. By caring for the piercing in the correct manner and with the proper materials, you will rarely have to deal with cases of proud flesh.

Using urine to heal the wound is highly recommended.

We recommend using a condom during sexual intercourse in the initial stages of the healing process.

Jewelry:

For the initial piercing a diameter of 1.6mm is generally used.

Later, once the piercing canal has healed, it should be stretched in order to accommodate a barbell, a ring, or a similar piece of jewelry with an increased diameter of 2.5 or 3.5mm.

This is recommended so that the piercing is not too thin and too stimulating during sexual intercourse; it also minimizes the risk of being torn out.

Stimulation:

The frenulum piercing stimulates the male frenulum, which could be called the “male clitoris”. It is therefore a very pleasurable piercing for the man.

The partner will also benefit from stimulation, depending on which type of jewelry is used.

In the case of a Frenulum Ladder—a consecutive series of frenulum piercings along the shaft—the partner will of course be highly stimulating.

Variations:

Frenulum-Ladder:

A Frenulum Ladder consists of a series of frenulum piercings below the frenulum and along the shaft of the penis. The farther down the piercing is placed, the higher the risk of it growing out due to the increased tension. However, this can be somewhat offset by stretching the area and making a deeper perforation.

Some men actually have piercings starting at the frenulum all the way down the shaft to the scrotum. Depending on the individual, this can amount to anywhere between 4 and 10 piercings.
