Nearly every woman wants one, if she doesn’t have one already. By 2000, navel piercing became a “must have” for young girls and adult women.
We often see mothers and daughters coming in together, often the daughters are 14, and the mothers around 45.
And this is not the exception, but the rule, whereas before this piercing was rare and few people dared to have it done.
Nowadays it is so attractive to women that many come to us after years of deliberation to finally get a navel piercing of their own.
The minimum age for this form of piercing is 14 years. There is no upper limit, and the oldest woman we’ve pierced was 68.
Origins:
Navel jewelry has long been a widespread practice in a ritualistic and aesthetic context. However, navel piercing is a modern trend in western culture without clear historical precedents, having first emerged in the 1990s.
Healing and care:
A navel piercing can take between 3 and 5 months to heal completely, rarely longer. Like other external piercings, in the first three weeks it should be cleaned with ProntoLind spray twice a day, and then coated with ProntoLind gel. It is important to wash your hands before touching the pierced area and the jewelry itself. By caring for the piercing in the correct manner and with the proper materials, you will rarely have to deal with cases of proud flesh.
Disinfectant solutions containing alcohol or chlorine should be avoided.
For the first 3 months you should not switch the jewelry yourself; and after 6 weeks you should have your piercer replace the initial jewelry with a suitable titanium piece.
Jewelry:
Banana bars are best suited for this type of piercing. Generally the lower ball is bigger than the upper one. The usual combinations are 4 and 6mm, or 5 and 8mm.
Of course you can also use open rings (CBRs – captive bead rings) or closed rings (BCR – ball closure rings) in your navel.
PTFE piercings are increasingly colorful and lively, and often glow under UV lights.
You can use titanium, gold, or PTFE as a sterilized first option.
Pregnancy:
What do you do if you’re pregnant and already have a pierced navel?
No problem, nowadays there is a large selection of jewelry designed especially for pregnant women.
You can even use pregnancy piercings beyond the period of your pregnancy and they will remain securely in place.
These piercings look charming, have lovely designs, and are a fitting tribute to the arrival of the new baby.
In short, there is no reason for concern, pregnancy is perfectly compatible with a navel piercing.
