The Prince Albert (“PA”) is without a doubt the best known form of genital piercing for the man.

It runs outwardly through the urethra, near the frenulum.

The PA is popular also due to its rapid healing phase, and is welcomed by many women because it provides sexual stimulation for them as well.

The PA is also visually stunning.

Origins:

Apparently, Queen Victoria’s husband used this type of ring to fasten his penis to his trouser button, so that it wouldn’t bounce up and down during battle. Perhaps underwear was not in widespread use at the time. His bodyguards and elite soldiers had to then follow suit.

For the woman there is a pendant piercing: the Princess Albertina—highly stimulating, but rarely possible (depending on the anatomy).

Piercing procedure:

A venous cannula is used to perforate the urethra downwards, in the vicinity of the frenulum.

As the needle is inserted into the urethra, it is initially drawn back into the cannula, to avoid any potential damage. Once the cannula is correctly positioned, then the needle is pushed forward until it comes out near the frenulum. This process may sound long, but it actually only takes a few seconds.

You also have the option of a local anesthetic if you wish, in which case you won’t feel a thing.

Healing:

Due to their constant exposure to urine, all urethra piercings heal very quickly and without complications. It is therefore important to urinate abundantly, which means drinking a lot of water. The Prince Albert piercing will take a mere 2-3 weeks to heal completely.

Genital piercings can take between 2 weeks and 6 months to heal completely, rarely longer. Like other external piercings, in the first three weeks it should be cleaned with ProntoLind spray twice a day, and then coated with ProntoLind gel. It is important to wash your hands before touching the pierced area and the jewelry itself. By caring for the piercing in the correct manner and with the proper materials, you will rarely have to deal with cases of proud flesh.

Disinfectant solutions containing alcohol or chlorine should be avoided.

When it comes to having sexual intercourse following the piercing we do advise you against it, but usually people wait a couple of days before resuming normal sexual relations.

Initially we recommend using a condom when performing sexual intercourse.

Risks:

In general there are no appreciable risks, provided that it is pierced correctly and the appropriate jewelry is used.

That said, it may make the urine flow “split” into two, which may oblige the man to sit down when urinating, at least at the beginning.

Stimulation:

The Prince Albert is stimulating for both partners: The man will feel a heightened sense of pleasure in the frenulum and urethra, and the glans will become more sensitive. The woman will also benefit from increased stimulation, even on the G-Spot.

Jewelry:

We recommend that you stretch the PA, otherwise there is a risk that the ring may cut into the flesh.

The most common diameter is 4 mm; the ring size can be between 16 – 18mm, depending on the customer’s preference.

Stimulation can be enhanced by stretching the area and using a larger piece of jewelry, of which there is a wide selection.

Rings, horseshoe rings, banana bars, and much more, are possible options and provide a unique aesthetic look as well as a singular sensual experience.

Variations on the traditional Prince Albert:

1. A Reverse Prince Albert (Reverse PA), also known as a Queen Victoria, also runs through the urethra but comes out on the upper side of the glans, effectively forming a “semi-Apadravya”.
2. The Dolphin is comparable to a “double PA”, but is placed considerably deeper and begins where the PA ends, that is, at the frenulum. Generally a curved barbell is used for this variation, which creates the optical impression that a dolphin is “diving” through the penis shaft, hence the name.
3. A Deep PA is a variation of the Dolphin. In this case both passageways run deeper, nearing the scrotum.
4. Prince’s Wand & Pound Puppy: In the PW, a bar is inserted in the urethra and fastened by means of a PA. Picture a miniature policeman’s baton that is inserted into the penis. A ball sits at the entrance of the urethra and holds the bar in place. Then, where the PA exits the frenulum, the bar is held in place by a ball which can be unscrewed.
